Ferguson joined Cox Radio in 1997 when the company acquired NewCity Communications, a company he co-founded and led as President and CEO. Under his leadership, NewCity Communications grew into a prominent media group, positioning it as a key acquisition for Cox Radio. Following the acquisition, Ferguson took on various leadership roles at Cox, including Vice President/COO and later Executive Vice President in 2003. He also served as a Director of Cox Radio beginning in 1997.
Prior to his tenure at Cox, Ferguson served as President of Katz Broadcasting, where he led a management group that organized NewCity to purchase the stock of that entity. He was also President of Park City Communications, which was later acquired by Katz Communications.
